Nokia Confirmed As Global Headline Sponsor For Social Media Week 2011;

and JWT and Meebo as Supporting Sponsors

Social Media Week are very pleased to announce that mobile communications giant NOKIA has signed on to serve as global headline sponsor of Social Media Week for all of 2011.  As part of its sponsorship, NOKIA will power a unique platform that will connect people in real-time across the twenty-plus cities that will participate in Social Media Week in February and September 2011.

“Nokia’s vision is to connect people to the who and what matters, anytime, anywhere” noted Craig Hepburn, Global Director, Digital, NOKIA. “We see Social Media Week as an opportunity to be involved in the new ways by which consumers connect with each other and to brands through real-time conversations.”

Support from corporate partnerships, both globally and locally, allows Social Media Week to provide hundreds of free events worldwide for its audience of hyper-social influencers. In addition to NOKIA, Social Media Week’s organizers announced support from other global partners including JWT and Meebo, to name a few.  Other brands involved around the world include GoogleMTVFinancial TimesOi Telecommunications (Brasil), and Fiat.

“JWT is heavily involved with Social Media Week on a global level,” said Social Media Week Board Member David Eastman who is Worldwide Digital Director and North American CEO at JWT. “The conference has grown in importance and stature, much as the social media space itself has. By hosting and participating in this essential series of events, we are helping both educate the audience as well as ourselves.”

Co-directing Social Media Week London

‘Social media is changing the way we live and work,  be part of that change, be social this February’

Well Media-Sauce likes to be social as most of you know and Mel is excited to join Sam from Chinwag as co-director of Social Media Week London, in February 2011.

An epic 11 city global event (London, NY, San Francisco, Paris, Berlin, Rome, Milan) with 450 events. Lucky for us, we only have to do 50 in London (gulp!) but have the fantastic support of our lovely advisory board team contributing and co-curating some of the events. If you are interested in getting involved in the week as a speaker, event company or volunteer then fill out the short form on the website. Amazing list of supporters and sponsors from last year including FT, Pepsico, JWT and with our team we are aiming to build on that in London.

Social Media Week’s mission is to provide a global platform that connects people and content for conversation, collaboration and learning.

Didn't we have a lovely day, the day we went to Bangor..

It was actually 2 days and the location was Caernarfon, but who lets details get any the way of a great song title. Media-sauce was invited by Cyfle to run a two day workshop on 'Old content, new money' looking at ways you can change your content  business model to increase your income and work across different platforms.  We were joined by a team from Cwmni Da  looking to expand the reach of their content and 2 ex participants from Cyfle's multi platform course.

I covered looking at new business models and how to build new models based on the knowledge from other industries, how you can uncover the hidden assets in your content and expand it's reach across different platforms

Mark, the mobile man, did a fantastic talk looking at how mobile business models have changed and the types of opportunities that currently exist to make money.

Sheerri, the legal wonder went through online licensing and answered many, many questions of the legal variety relating to TV and digital IP.

Thank you to Iona and Shan for making us feel welcome and the view from the venue was amazing.
